DODO developing "Trenches" with Theaterlab.
DODO has been blessed to receive a two-week residency with Theaterlab to develop our new play, Trenches. The residency will begin with a staged reading of the script in its current state on April 10th at 7:00 pm. We'll be on Theaterlab's main stage at 357 West 36th Street, 3rd Floor. RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org.
The residency will conclude with a devised promenade piece through the entire space. This will not be a direct read of the play, but rather a sort of kinetic mood board to explore tones, themes, style and overall "vibe."
The promenade performance will be April 14th at 7:00 pm at Theaterlab. RSVP at email@example.com.
Devised by DODO and written by Joshua Conkel, Trenches is an experimental comedy that explores the nature of grief and how it is exploited by those seeking power. It is a gonzo gothic period piece. A pastiche that plays with the hilarious, painstaking mourning practices of the Victorian era, mixed with the spiritualist movement, young women’s diary entries, and the music of Purcell. The play is also written to be performed by practical lights and with live foley art, which gives it the air of an off-kilter ghost story.

Jazzercize is out. Zumba is in. But instructor Kelsea Wiggan is not going down without a fight. Armed with pep, a petition, and her conflict-averse co-instructor, Kelsea is determined to keep Jazzercise alive at the Chikatawnee Valley Community Center.
The Last Class asks what happens when you invest your life in a dying franchise: When do you double down on a dream deferred? How big a failure is too big to just "sweat it out?"
The Last Class is a real aerobics class happening in real time. Along with the standard audience seating, a select number of tickets will be made available each performance for audience members wanting to take the class. Get ready to SWEAT!
