AMY STAATS is a writer, actor, producer, director, and member of DODO: A Theater Collective.
As a writer, her full length plays include: Eddie and Dave: A Fictionalized Tale of Van Halen (Developed at Berkeley Rep’s Ground Floor and SPACE on Ryder Farm); Hands (Developed at Naked Angels First Mondays and SPACE on Ryder Farm with Ensemble Studio Theater); CAT-HER-IN-E (Midtown Theater Festival, Best Solo Show Nominee); and Move (New Voices Fellowship and developed at The New Group). Among her short plays are: Changing of the Guard (EST Marathon, published: Best American Short Play Anthology) and Throws of Love which has had multiple productions including the Samuel French Short Play Festival (directed by Jess Chayes, published: Samuel French). Screenplays: Mr. Rawls (BVEW Screenplay Fellow) and Mary and Louise (Winner: Best Script- LA Comedy Shorts) She is a member of the Ensemble Studio Theater and a regular at Naked Angels Tuesdays @9. She is also thrilled to be a recipient of The Atlantic Theater Companies 2016-2017 Launch Commission.
As an actor she has worked with DODO, The Mad Ones, Lesser America, Clubbed Thumb, New Georges, MCC, New Dramatists, The Lark, Naked Angels, The New Group, Playwright’s Horizons, Premiere Stages, Target Margin, Ensemble Studio Theater, among others.
